Had these shoes a long time, but they never felt like they were "Broke in". I would say they are somewhere in the middle of the road.I went through two brands and their size comparison queue and realized I needed a E width. Guess my foot grew. I hover around D to E pending on the shoe. The D width LL Beans fit pretty good but they hurt my feet so bad I returned them. The Rockport’s way more comfortable and not too big. I recommend these if you’re looking for a regular E width.Wear it every day. Like the waterproof. Great to shine. My hubbie had difficulty finding casual dress shoes he liked. I suggested trying Amazon and he found these. We ordered them and he wears them all the time! They fit as expected and the styling is just what he wanted. This is a very comfortable, roomy shoe I picked for dress shoes since I have an extremely bad bunion and flat feet. Just be aware if you are buying for dress shoes like me, they definitely look orthopedic and not like fancy polished shoes. The toe box could be a bit larger, but since I got the wide ones and these shoes are bit long for me, they are fine. My Keen Austin shoes are more comfortable and have a wider toe box, but they do not seem to offer a dress shoe. I hope they hold up, as some reviews say they do not.I am having problems with the intermational sizes. I take a USA 10.5 D and the International sizes are Medium (a USA C) or wide (a USA E). This fits ok but not exact. The narrow width fits fairly well but mot as well as Rockports that I have had in the past. The color, dark brown, was actually more of a medium tan.Work shoes, extremely comfortable! This is my second pair of Northfields (the last was way back), but the quality is only half what it used to be: the upper half. What's no longer good are the soles Rockport uses.Out of the box, they look like they will never wear down. But six months later, they're as smooth as jazz on a summer's day, and dangerous with it on wet surfaces - and as these shoes are designed for use in the wet, it defeats their purpose. I had also more recently owned a pair of Rockport Charlesview, and there the sole story was the same, which is why I came back to Northfield, hoping the problem wouldn't be across the range.Rockport, if you're reading, address this issue, because these otherwise excellent shoes are likely to be my last of yours. The above review relates to the previous purchase of these shoes. The recent purchase would be rated very poorly in all categories.A pair of these shoes has served me well for some years but as the soles were beginning to wear I decided to purchase new pair. First, there was an inordinate delay in delivery (months). Then, when they finally arrived, the shoes were mismatched. They looked identical but the right shoe was very, very tight. Measurement with a vernier calliper showed that the sole and the uppers of this shoe were much narrower than the left shoe. They were returned for replacement and the revised delivery is now in October. This is a good shoe being let down by poor delivery and poor quality control.Despite it was shipped from USA, it was worth waiting for a few days only. I always chose Rockport for comfort and quality; always choosing half- ankle chukka boots for ankle support. I liked the sues colour and design on this pair so much that despite it was not my signature style chukka boots , It was love at first sight when arrived ! I wear it as “ go to “ shoes because of its top quality, comfort and support for feet! Lovely shoes, not heavy with heavy looks ! I recommend it!I have to wear orthotic implants as my right leg is shorter than my left – from birth. Not all shoes are comfortable even with modern orthotics so once I discovered that Rockport were fine with the implants I have been using them ever since. That has been for about seven years now and I get through at least three pairs a year. They have gone down in durability over the last three years I think and now tend to wear out after only three months, which is why I went on line to buy them as I have saved around 12% by getting them here instead of the local shop. They are waterproof too which is good but that can also mean that your feet are more likely to perspire if worn for long periods (a problem I do not get with Timberlands for example). The colours are great though and work as smart and casual if worn with the right clothing. So yes I do love them but love them but like all god things they come to an end just a bit too soon for my liking – other than that I can wholly recommend.I ordered these as I was looking for a pair of brown casual shoes with a degree of waterproofing. They arrived nicely packed, were put on and were instantly comfortable-no 'breaking in' to worry about.Out and about they're extremely comfortable, giving just the right amount of support whilst keeping my feet fairly well rested.Overall these are excellent shoes. Stylish and well made I've no complaints so far. In fact I would say they are the best shoes I've ever owned.I've suggested they are moderately large size wise but that at least allows for wearing 'Odor Eaters' or other insoles and of course thermal socks.Thoroughly recommended.
