Perhaps it’s just me, but I feel that a jacket with mesh lining, a collar, and a hood that tucks away in a pocket behind the collar cannot be a serious hill jacket. That is what I bought this one for but now plan only to use in the street. I will look again for a suitable shell jacket for hillwalking. After speniding a year 'suffering' in a Karrimor jacket, I decided it was time to upgrade to something that would actually keep me dry. I spend quite some time researching online and found this Berghaus jacket to be well received.I have worn this jacket in some serious downpours and it hasn't let me down. It has excellent breathabithly and the colour allows me to blend into the environment, rather than stand out like a sore thumb! It is also very comfy to wear, with its soft feel and has excellent pockets and hood.Today I walked in the rain wearing my Berghaus to a charity shop....to drop off my Karrimor!!Highly recommend this jacket, well worth the costExcellent performance in some pretty extreme weather during a recent trek in Iceland - heavy and persistent rain, and some strong winds; the jacket kept me warm and dry as a really effective outer layer. Got an excellent deal for it online at a fraction of the price of more expensive Goretex jacketsAre use this jacket to go to work and also to go hiking. I haven’t been in a downpour with it yet but it seems to be pretty waterproof. It also is very windproof and is all I need at the moment.Really nice product, lightweight enough to pack into a bag but substantive enough to be wind and waterproof. Hood is useful but can be stored away easily and pockets are warm. Only gripe would be that the external and internal pockets are on the same side, meaning a bulky single side to the jacket when used, otherwise flawless.
