Let me say first that I am a female and I wear a ladies size 9 and take a 7.5 in this shoe. I bought these because I walk a number of miles every day and my previous Hoka's had worn out. Hoka's have a nice, wide toe box which is missing in most women's shoes, but their soles do not last more than a few hundred miles. I do not have a wide foot, but I don't like my toes to rub the side seams of shoes and if you walk a lot and for good distances your toes have a tendency to stretch outwards while you are walking. These shoes are great- lots of toe room, yet not so wide in the heel that they slip or do not feel secure. I could never stand in my Hoka's for more than an hour or two, but I can wear these all day and not feel any foot fatigue. The amount of padding in them is average but I don't feel anywhere that it is lacking. They have a pretty stiff sole, which I prefer to one that flexes and is squishy. The fabric seems to be pretty heavy duty and it is reinforced in the toe area. The soles say "Goodyear" so I am assuming they will last longer than usual. I have been wearing them daily and walking 12-14 miles per day in them and so far, they are great. The only thing that I would change is that the insole cannot be removed, it is glued down tight. You would have to cut it out to get it out. The arch support is only so-so, so that could be a problem if you need to put in something with more arch support.
